Club and Venue

Folk at the Barlow is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers.

Our aim is to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy and participate in folk music, song and dance

The Barlow, Edgworth is a community hall run by trustees and operated largely by volunteers

Lighting and professional sound system. Engineer supplied.

Concert Timings

5 pm onwards : Soundchecks – earlier access by prior arrangement.

7:30 : Doors open following soundchecks

7:40 : House Band plays
-
8:00 : Support Act (45 mins)

8:45 approx : Main act (45 mins)

9:20 approx : Interval, Raffle & Announcements (25 mins)

9.45 approx : Main Act (45 mins + encore)

11:00 : We have to be out of the building
General

A table is provided for CD and other sales. No commission is taken, nor do we expect a CD for the raffle.

Artists are offered tea/coffee & biscuits on arrival and a drink from the bar.

Water is available at the bar – no single use plastic bottles from us!
-
No food is provided except by prior arrangement. If so, the cost of this will be deducted from the agreed fee.

No food is on sale at The Barlow but there are local pubs and the Cricket Club nearby
-
We cannot cover the cost of accommodation at a B&B/Hotel. If accommodation is required, member(s) of the club will try to provide this.

If a B&B/hotel has to be used, the cost will be deducted from the agreed fee.

One complimentary guest per performer - please let us know numbers and check them in at entrance desk.
What we need from you:

We need your PA tech spec at least 2 weeks in advance. Our state-of-the-art sound system will meet the needs of most acts.

If you wish to bring a sound engineer, or self-operated sound system, this needs to be discussed in advance.

We prefer to pay artists by bank transfer so require details in advance. Cash or cheque on the night only if arranged prior to the concert.

For the sake of efficiency, all major arrangements should be made when booking. No follow-up riders please!

Once your booking is confirmed, if you have to cancel the performance for any reason, please let us know immediately.
